Letter from Sor Teresita
Gracias, Thank you!
The birth of Jesus can be seen in the new hearts that have come to shower their love and support for the children of COMPROME and for those most in need. Thanks to all of you for persevering one more year. The presence of God has been felt in this work with children.
We want to share with you the happiness we experienced this Christmas. 2011 began with many difficulties, but thanks to God, it is certainly closing on a high note.
COMPROME now has a water purification system and a sponsor for our electricity costs. What a huge help! Our kids continue to receive support for their studies, the fruits of which can be seen as they pass to the next academic level: two graduated from kindergarten, and three from primary school and are will move on to High School. Two will attend El Instituto de Notre Dame and a third will be moving to El Hogar Santa Barbara to be reunited with his siblings and to continue his education. The number of students at COMPROME has now risen to 42, ranging from two years to eighteen years old. We are so pleased that more hearts from the United States have been opened to us, and we can see it not only in the level of economic support send to us, but also in an increase in the number of visitors this year. An excellent improvement to the property has been the addition of a new chicken coop. Thanks to this new building, we have seen an improvement in the nutrition of the children by providing eggs more often for breakfast and saving a bit in grocery costs as well. We were also blessed with the construction of new playground equipment for the kids, a welcome distraction and a big boost for their mental well-being. The property is beautiful, thanks to the hard work of all the volunteers that came to paint COMPROME. Fortunately, we have received multiple donations of school supplies, children´s clothing, toys, movies and food. We had so many blessings that it is difficult to name the all.
We also want to give thanks for the scholarships provided to students outside of COPROME who also dream of a making a better life but are without economic means to do so. Because of these scholarships, they have been able to continue their studies and four have already graduated: One in nursing, two in computer science and one in business administration.
There are really no words to describe the immense level of gratitude we feel for all of you who have helped us, who have touched the hearts of our children and those in need, and those who help us. May God bless you and may 2012 bring good health and happiness to you all.
Feliz Año Nuevo 2012
